A total of  485 elements of the armed group and Mouvement Politico-Militaire Nduma Defense Of Congo Rénové (NDC-R) surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday, August 17, 2020 in Kashuga, in the Masisi territory in the north. -Kivu.
Désiré Ngabo, current president of this pro-Gilbert Bwira movement which gave out this information said that these elements have handed over to the FARDC 90 individual weapons, a weapon of the PKM brand and another of RPJ7.
“We are in the process of surrender and already yesterday (Monday, editor's note) in Kashuga in Masisi we brought out the first wave which is of 485 elements, 90 individual weapons, 1 PKM and 1 RPJ7. The next step will be to go in the other axis so that the surrender is effective, ”he said.
Hundreds of other NDC-R elements scattered in several villages of Masisi and Walikale are expected for the surrender to be effective.
This movement calls on the Congolese government to take ownership of this process and that the FARDC deploy in the entities abandoned by this movement to prevent other armed groups from settling there.
“We want the Congolese government to take ownership of this process and for the FARDC to deploy in the entities that we have abandoned to secure the population.
Because when we abandon certain positions, the FDLR and Nyantura settle there suddenly, ”Désiré Ngabo dropped.
In early July 2020, the NDC-R announced the dismissal of Guidon Shimiray as the commander-in-chief of this self-defense militia. Since then, the latter has taken a few men with him and clashes with the wing Bwira Gilbert have already made about fifty words in both camps
