MTN uganda brings another good offer, you can call from 10pm to 8am for as low as 100 shillings

Minister Jane acheng's facebook account must be made to look Verified and official to avoid people who may maliciously use her names to spread fake Covid19 updates

I think the ministry of healthy team should advise minister Jane aceng to verify and single out the facebook account she uses and which people must visit if the have to get official updates! She must make sure that people differentiate what is the official account from fake ones!!! I remember recently someone used a fake twit alleging that the president had ordered for a total lock down and many people were nearly taking the info as true until a group responsible alerted the president of the circulating fake info
.This period of Covid19 fight is being keenly followed by every ugandan and everyone us trying to visit such social media accounts of people like the minister of healthy Jane acheng!!!It will be helpful if she sets up an official account with and marked by the blue tick!!!I know this may look simple but depending on the fake twit that almost got everyone worried of how the president could immidiately order for a lock down.and the circulating fake news of the food distributions, then an official account has to be created!!!
When i try or start investigating something especially on this internet then know that there are some suspicious elements who are planning to spread such fake information! Imagine now that someone was sending fake emails pretending to be her

,Ugandans should be careful of these messages and UCC must compel all girvenment officials to have their social media accounts verified....
......And this is the valid, and true page of minister Jane aceng....anyone who was asking of the real page where to get real information on covid19 should always visit it....
..........
The verified badge  appears next to a Facebook Page or account’s name in search and on the profile. It means Facebook has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure, celebrity, or global brand it represents.
What are the requirements to apply for a verified badge?
We look at a number of factors when evaluating Facebook accounts to determine if they're in the public interest and meet our verification criteria.
In addition to following Facebook’s terms of service, your account also needs to be:
  • Authentic: Your account must represent a real person, registered business or entity.
  • Unique: Your account must be the unique presence of the person or business it represents. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. We don't verify general interest accounts (example: Puppy Memes).
  • Complete: Your account must be active and have an about section, profile photo and at least one post.
  • Notable: Your account must represent a well-known, often searched person, brand or entity. We review accounts that are featured in multiple news sources, and we don't consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.
  • Keep in mind that if you provide false or misleading information during the verification process, we will remove your verified badge and may take additional action to delete your account.
If your account doesn't meet the criteria for a verified badge, there are other ways to let people know it's authentic. For example, you can link to it from an official website, Instagram profile or Twitter account.
How do I request a verified badge?
You can submit a request by filling out a contact form.
If your account represents a person, you’ll need a copy of your official government-issued photo identification (example: passport, driver's license, national identification card) to validate your request. If your account represents an organization, you’ll need a copy of a phone or utility bill, a certificate of formation, articles of incorporation, or tax exemption documents. Please also include a few sentences explaining why the account should receive the verified badge, and relevant URLs that help illustrate the account's notability.
You'll receive a notification once we review your request. Please don't submit more than one request for your account. For denied requests, you can submit a new request after 30 days.

Nakasongola develops a prototype of the first African firefighting machine

Today, I observed the successful launching of a prototype of an African firefighting vehicle at Nakasongola.
This vehicle is a convergence of two ideas that have been part of my life.
The first idea, is the traditional way of putting out bushfire ( okuteera omuriro ogw'ekishugyi).
In suppressing bushfire, using appropriate tree branches (not too small not too heavy), you tackle the bushfire from the rear (okugureetwa aha mugongo).
The bushfire is always driven by the wind. If the wind is blowing from the East to the West, the fire will burn from the East to the West ( I.e the same direction as the wind).
It is very dangerous to try and tackle the fire from the direction it is burning towards (in this case from West to East).
The fire and the smoke can easily catch up with you and kill you (either by suffocation and blinding from the smoke or actually burning).
This is not to forget the snakes and other animals that will be running away from the fire in the direction it is heading which can be a danger to you, especially the snakes.
Whenever I watch people in Western countries fighting fire on the TV, I do not see any systematic pattern of abating this issue - the angle from which you attack the fire.
Hence, the first idea of this vehicle is the African idea of fighting the fire from the rear.
The second idea of this vehicle is from my military background of using tracked vehicles (those that move on chains rather than wheels - ebijegyere versus emipiira) which have good cross country mobility capacity (they can move through the bush, they don't have to follow the roads), therefore, after consulting our engineers, we decided to convert a tracked military vehicle into a fire fighting vehicle by removing the guns and the turret and replacing them with a water tank with hoses for spraying water.
In our opinion, such a tracked vehicle (moving on chains) is better than aircraft or vehicles which are moving on wheels and are, therefore, road-bound.
The advantage for the tracked vehicles is that, if they are backed by other tracked water carriers, they can sustainably fight the fire without stopping unlike the aircraft which must always go back to recharge.

In the earlier stages of the COVID-19 epidemic in the UK, suggestions had been made that one way of dealing with the virus was by allowing 80 per cent of the population to catch it, in order to build up “herd immunity”. However, the plan was swiftly dismissed by Health Secretary Matt Hancock as exposing the most vulnerable to a high risk of death.

UK to take a second thought on covid19 carfew

Earlier today, Professor of Infectious Disease Modelling at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Graham Medley said as quoted by The Times that there might be a need to reconsider the controversial herd immunity strategy, which implies allowing people to catch the coronavirus to build up a resistance.
Neil Ferguson, a British epidemiologist and professor of mathematical biology, stated on Saturday that the UK could move to slightly reduced lockdown measures as work was underway to see how intensive testing and contract tracing could replace these measures.
"I'm hopeful that in a few weeks' time we will be able to move to a regime which - will not be a normal life, let me emphasize that - but will be somewhat more relaxed in terms of social-distancing and the economy but rely more on testing," Neil Ferguson said.
The day before, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock unveiled the government’s newest approach to handling the coronavirus, which is focused primarily on scaling up mass testing.
The health secretary also announced that £13 billion ($16.1bn) of debt owed by NHS hospital trusts would be written off, and an extra £300 million ($371m) will be given to community pharmacies.
According to the data provided by the World Health Organisation, as of Friday, the number of coronavirus cases in the UK was at 33,722, with the death toll at 2,921. At the same time, the organisation says that 976,249 people were infected worldwide and 50,489 died as of Fri

Up to 600 French service men test positive of covid19

As the number of COVID-19 cases confirmed globally has surpassed 1 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) is stressing the need for countries to shut their economies down to curb the spreading of the coronavirus, be patient, and give time for lockdowns to work.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States has risen above 250,000, Johns Hopkins University’s real-time tracker revealed on Friday.
Russia is suspending, starting 4 April, international flights for evacuating citizens from abroad, in order to contain the coronavirus through preventing a new wave of imported cases.
According to Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov, more than 2,000 Russian citizens cannot return from the United States due to travel restrictions that were introduced to fight the spread of COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on 11 March. According to data updated by WHO on 3 April, the total number of those infected stands at 972,303, while the death toll is 50,322. Johns Hopkins University argues that about 1.1 million people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 59,000 fatalities so far.
