Elements of the Congolese National Police (PNC) repelled an attack by suspected Mai-Mai rebels on the evening of August 24, 2020 in Mangina, an agglomeration located 30 kilometers from the city of Beni in North Kivu.
According to Bienvenue Mopero, second in command of the PNC in Mangina contacted on this Tuesday,said, armed men who wanted to attack the staff of the PNC Ciat in Mangina, were repulsed by the elements who were on guard.
"We used professionalism. There are armed men who are said to be Mai-Mai militiamen who tried to attack our position. Our elements were vigilant, they retaliated against this threat. Suddenly, the enemy took off into the Forest, "he said.
According to the same source, no human and material damage was recorded. However, the crackling of bullets plunged the population into fear, according to local civil society.
This morning, calm is back and activities are proceeding normally in this part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
