He added that the situation remains volatile, although Congolese forces have managed to penetrate the center.

The fighting was triggered after an offensive launched by the FARDC on January 7, 2025. According to the FARDC spokesperson in North Kivu, this counteroffensive made it possible to recover several localities that were previously occupied by the M23 rebels and their allies.

The FARDC and the VDP Wazalendo continue to hold their positions and seek to definitively push back the rebels. The humanitarian situation in the region is worsening overnight.

In addition to these clashes, our sources report that other clashes are reported in Kaniro and several villages in Kinigi.

There has been Several days of fighting near Bitagata, a hill whose control was shared between the M23 and Wazalendo, this hill finally came under the total control of the Wazalendo and FARDC. The rebels abandoned 17 bodies of their fallen elements to retreat to the hill overlooking Rwangara.

According to witnesses on the spot, the clashes are particularly concentrated on Kahongole hill, located in the Mont Ngaliema district of Masisi. Loud detonations of heavy and light weapons are heard there.

Several sources indicate that the M23-RDF rebels have already been pushed back from the center of Masisi and that the fighting is towards Lushebere.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the house of the Binza group leader was looted by the M23 rebels, 68 BG28 sheets, cement and several other valuables taken away.

In December 2024, the RDF M23 had for the first time organized a search in the house of the Binza group leader, Mr. Jérôme Nyamuhanzi.

Reports also have it that his DT 125 motorcycle, which he used for travel, was taken away by these rebels.

Since the arrival of the M23 elements in the Zone, the leader has been taking refuge in Uganda and according to several sources, the  M23 have installed a new leader of the Binza group.

The Binza group is located north of the Rutshuru territory, along the border with Uganda and Lake Edward.

Many feared dead in Loselose as ADF lays another terror attack

While declared finished and neutralized thanks to the joint operations of the FARDC and the Ugandan army, the Ugandan terrorists of the ADF have made their incursion once again.

Several people were killed and others reported missing in the village of Loselose in Beni territory on the Beni-Kasindi road.

These events took place on the evening of Sunday 5 to Monday 6 January 2025.

Some residents are moving out of fear after the tragedy in Loselose. The provisional toll is five dead, three injured, three missing and houses burned down. So, the residents have decided to move for their safety," they said.

The military administrator of the Beni territory, who confirmed the attack, called on the population to remain calm, because according to him, the security services are on the offensive against the enemy.

"The enemy wants to be heard after being annihilated by the country's armed forces. He attacked Loselose, unfortunately innocent civilians after a failed attempt against the army. Our elements have mobilized and are in depth to reassure the security of the population," reported Colonel Omeonga Charles, administrator of the Beni territory.

Following this killing, activities slowed down in the town which had just experienced several months of calm imposed by the joint FARDC-UPDF forces.

Ugandan President Yoweri KAGUTA MUSEVENI had rather declared the annihilation of this rebel movement by his troops deployed in Congo, but until then the Ruwenzori sector continues to suffer their torments.

The DRC army on the other hand does not give up and continues to fight in the depths against these terrorists.

Ndumba hill recaptured by FARDC/Wazalendo!

Fighting in mupfuni!

Fighting between elements of the M23/RDF coalition and the FARDC, supported by local “Wazalendo” fighters, resumed early this Sunday, January 5, 2025, on several axes of the Mupfuni Shanga group, in the Masisi territory (North Kivu). According to the president of the new Congolese civil society in the Mupfuni Shanga group, Jean de Dieu Barakimwa, loyalist forces are continuing to hunt down M23/RDF elements, beyond the strategic hill of Ndumba, from where they were dislocated after several months of resistance . But, in Bweremana-centre, it is calm. Activities are proceeding normally. The clashes are taking place at the height of Ndumba, towards Kashingamutwe and more precisely in Kalenga. This is where we hear the detonations of heavy weapons, here in Bweremana. We have already recaptured Ndumba hill, but next to it, there are two other hills that we are trying to recapture, including Kashingamutwe. However, the enemy has left Kashingamutwe and is now positioned in Kalonge, where the fighting is continuing,” Jean de Dieu Barakimwa, president of the new Congolese civil society in the Mupfuni Shanga. On Saturday, loyalist forces managed to recapture a number of localities in the highlands of the same Mupfuni Shanga group. According to our source, a combing operation in the area continued this morning, despite the responses from M23/RDF elements. "There are also clashes in the highlands of the Mupfuni Shanga group, more precisely in Ngungu, towards Kasake, Ruzirantaka, Kamatane, Kabingo, Bitaata and Rwangara. These are localities that we recovered yesterday.

The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) are gaining ground on the Bweremana axis, chiefdom of the Bahunde, located in the Masisi territory (North Kivu). They have contained and pushed back the M23 rebels who were trying to overflow, say residents of this locality who have just arrived this Sunday morning, January 5 in Minova. They also confirm the reconquest of the Ndumba hill and part of Shasha by the FARDC. Meanwhile, the situation remains relatively calm but unpredictable this Sunday on the Masisi-center axis, where the weapons have fallen silent since the previous evening. This morning, there is apparent calm in the capital of the territory which remains under rebel occupation. Sources in the region report that after the capture of Masisi-center, the M23 rebels held a rally in front of the administrative office of the territory, reassuring security to some residents who remained in this locality. In the meantime, most of the populations of Nyabiondo, Bukombo and Loashi have left these towards the Walikale territory. They are moving preventively, fearing the possible progression of the rebels.

Several human rights organizations are warning of a manhunt that has been underway since the early evening of this Saturday, January 4, 2025 after the capture of Masisi-center by M23-RDF terrorists. According to these organizations that spoke to press, after the capture of Masisi center, capital of the Masisi territory by the M23, fighters from this movement are said to be chasing young people from the area who are "wrongly" accused of belonging to wazalendo movements . "Some young people who have remained in the city are forced to pledge allegiance to the M23 and if this is not the case, they are sometimes arrested, they are accused of being wazalendo, we do not know where they are taken," says a local organization.

A bomb thrown by the M23 rebels in Bweremana/Burora next to the Mitetso primary school has just caused damage while killing a mother and her child and many injured in these afternoons of this Sunday.

FARDC claims victory on bweramana axis

Reports from the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) indicate that they are gaining ground on the Bweremana axis, chiefdom of the Bahunde, located in the territory of Masisi (North Kivu). They have contained and pushed back the M23 rebels who were trying to overflow, say residents of this locality who have just arrived this Sunday morning, January 5 in Minova.

They also confirm the reconquest of the Ndumba hill and part of Shasha by the FARDC.

Meanwhile, the situation remains relatively calm but unpredictable this Sunday on the Masisi-centre axis, where the guns have been silent since the previous evening. This morning, there was apparent calm in the capital of the territory which remains under rebel occupation.

Sources in the region report that after the capture of Masisi-centre , the M23 rebels held a rally in front of the territory's administrative office, reassuring the security of some residents who remained in this locality.

M23's head of Intelligence Afande Maheshe Byamungu held a meeting with civilians in newly conquered areas of Masisi

Afande Bernard Maheshe Byamungu in photos as he to talks to civilians!

In a way of showing their complete capture of Masisi, the head of intelligence in M23 Maheshe Byamunngu,a very good and close ally of Afande Makenga, held a meeting and mutually interacted with civilians to asssure them of calm and peace. He assured the civilians of protection.Bernard Maheshe Byamungu is disciplinarian and no nonsense military leader who has been leading the rebels intelligence networks and he is so good in his work ,and many in the ranks of M23 describe him as workaholic and as one of the key figures in the successes of the reebel group.

In just a few days, the M23 has captured the following localities.

  1. Gatare
  2. Murerahungwe
  3. Gasheberi
  4. Buguri
  5. Gutsure
  6. Nyangwe
  7. Cyangurube
  8. Rurambo
  9. Cyangonga
  10. Rusheberi
  11. Matovu
  12. Bikenke
  13. Gahongore
  14. Kalinga
  15. Mutiri
  16. Masisizone
  17. Rwashi
  18. Bugabo
  19. Miyanja
  20. Gasura
  21. Busihe
  22. Mitando.
23.Busakirwa

According to intelligence collections from the wazalendo, the successes of M23 in Masisi is attributed to four main factors as they listed them:

1.They use attack drones that carry shells.

These drones help them to bomb with precision to pierce the FARDC / WAZALENDO defense lines.

2) The Rwandan army is preparing an attack with the reserve of well-organized reinforcements.

Despite the great losses of the advense, the reinforcements arrive with motivation to continue the War, on our side, the FARDC / WAZALENDO cannot receive the reinforcements when we need them.
The reinforcements of the Rwandan army restart the War while, on our side we are tired.

3) The artillery of the Rwandan army and ammunition arrive in real time, i.e. it arrives when we need it.

4) The coordination of the command of operations (artillery, air force "drones" and the infantry) all work on the same pace, unlike the FARDC.

NB: War requires a strategy that aligns all the paths together.

When the infantry needs help from the air force, not useless discussions as we observe in the ranks of the FARDC.

In the ranks of the FARDC, when the infantry needs artillery, the head of the artillery responds that he has not yet received the order from the hierarchy.

It is the same with the air force.
The Command of operations is divided into several directions.

Either the artillery receives the order from the chief of staff, or the air force receives the order from the supreme commander, or the infantry receives the order from the head of operations.

The hierarchy must make a single Command that will coordinate everything in the operations on the front lines.

Another thing to note well is; according to our investigative study around the borders,it is worth to note that the M23 has  a high secret and well coordinated reinforcements team that knows well the whole regions. It is not easy to know the trends of M23's reinforcements especially to seeming relactant intelligence apparatus of FARDC.

Capture military effects prove Rwandan support to m23

Captured M23_RDF elements and several military effects attest once again to Rwanda's support for M23 rebels in Masisi territory.
