Colonel Protogene Ruvugayimikore aka Ruhinda was the head of FDLR's commando unit.He has been active in the recruiting of many youth into the ranks of FDLR.He had managed to conduct cardet training to various youths from Goma.He owned a variety of businesses in Goma and owning many motor cycles operated by many youth in Goma and Rutshuru.He was killed by exploded grenade that were hidden under his bed.Information from reliable sources indicate that three bombs had been planted in his bed room by a new Congolese hutu cadet recruit from Goma.Two bombs exploded severely injuring colonel Ruhinda on the head and the abdomen,where he was rushed to the hospital in Goma.The other remaining grenade was safely detonated by his colleagues of the engineering brigade.Many sources indicate that after that incidence the recruit who planted these grenades escaped and is no longer in the ranks of FDLR.Other rumours say that there had arose a strife between colonel Ruhinda and another FDLR commander called Omega who accused Ruhinda of trying to sabotage his powers.
General Omega and Lieutenant-Colonel Giyome are suspected of being behind the death of the late Ruvugayimikore Protégéne (Ruhinda) who was the commander of the CRAP unit responsible for special military operations within the FDLR.Confirmatory intelligence information from soldiers who were in Shove says that yesterday afternoon, near Colonel Ruhinda's headquarters, they heard a loud explosion.The FDLR CRAP soldiers arrived and encountered an injured person who was bleeding profusely in the Umwembe area of Muja in the Bukumu village, Nyiragongo District where he was taken to the CBK hospital in Goma and later it was confirmed that it was Colonel Ruhinda who had been blown up by the two grenades.
Colonel Ruhinda was a fierce fighter who inflicted a lot of harm to the opposing enemies.His family and relatives live in Goma where he conducts businesses in Timber,motorcycle riders work for him,sell of minerals and a numerous merchandise businesses in the city of GOMA.
