Covid19 cases in Iran rise to 3452

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 972,303, while the death toll is 50,322, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The death toll from the novel coronavirus infection in Iran has reached 3,452, according to the country's health ministry.
158 deaths have been recorded over the past 24 hours, Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpur said.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 55,743, with 4,103 patients in critical condition, the minister added.
Iran has been the Middle Eastern country worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The country's response to the virus has been
complicated by US economic sanctions .

UK to take a second thought on covid19 carfew

Earlier today, Professor of Infectious Disease Modelling at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Graham Medley said as quoted by The Times that there might be a need to reconsider the controversial herd immunity strategy, which implies allowing people to catch the coronavirus to build up a resistance.
Neil Ferguson, a British epidemiologist and professor of mathematical biology, stated on Saturday that the UK could move to slightly reduced lockdown measures as work was underway to see how intensive testing and contract tracing could replace these measures.
"I'm hopeful that in a few weeks' time we will be able to move to a regime which - will not be a normal life, let me emphasize that - but will be somewhat more relaxed in terms of social-distancing and the economy but rely more on testing," Neil Ferguson said.
The day before, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock unveiled the government’s newest approach to handling the coronavirus, which is focused primarily on scaling up mass testing.
The health secretary also announced that £13 billion ($16.1bn) of debt owed by NHS hospital trusts would be written off, and an extra £300 million ($371m) will be given to community pharmacies.

This carfew is supposed to be observed by every Ugandan as a MUST and even the president.So am really shocked to some of you who think you cannot obey it!!! Whether you are a minister or whatever you think you are,you must obey it!! However there may be and are some exceptions like Nurses,doctors, and others with emergency cases.Fir the case of these I have described like Nurses and doctors, if you are going for a night duty then you are allowed but do not use that exception to go where you are not needed to be!!!Only personnels involved in making sure that people adhere to the carfew are the only ones allowed beyond 7pm.So, everyone irrespective of who you are must be at his home by 7pm!! And try to respect those involved in seeing that the carfew is respected!!!!

The NHS Nightingale Hospital, one of the biggest in the world, opens its doors to coronavirus patients at the ExCel convention centre in London.

The hospital, which was assembled in 9 days, is intended to house up to 4,000 people. It was set up in order to ease the pressure on closed hospitals which have been overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients. ​

On Wednesday, the United Kingdom registered the biggest increase in coronavirus-related deaths so far since the start of the outbreak. According to the the World Health Organization (WHO) the number of fatalities has risen to 2,352.

At the same time, Johns Hopkins University says that there are 33,718 COVID-19 cases and 2,921 fatalities in the UK.

The US military awarded a contract worth more than $500 million to Lockheed Martin to build eight F-16 fighter jets for Bulgaria, the Defence Department said in a statement

"Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Ft. Worth, Texas, has been awarded a $512,004,418 firm-fixed-price contract for F-16 Block 70 production for the Republic of Bulgaria. This contract value includes $4,185,516 of pre-priced options. This contract provides for the production of eight F-16 Block 70 aircraft", the release said on Thursday.

According to the company website, the comprehensive F-16 Block 70 package for the Eastern European country includes training for pilots and ground crew, logistics, support equipment, and weapons for all operational needs.

On 1 April, Lockheed Martin won a more than $818 million US Air Force contract to produce 790 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSM), the Department of Defence said in a press release.
