Butembo on the Butembo-Goma axis. Since Thursday, residents have been moving and heading towards Kayna, others to Kirumba and Kaseghe, localities located in the direction of Butembo. These residents are taking shelter following the incidents that occurred on the day of yesterday Friday. After a Thursday night agitated by psychosis following the movement of soldiers coming from the front line, the residents panicked because the Fardc soldiers fired bullets between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. an act which panicked many residents who believed in the rebels entered the city and immediately began to empty the locality. Until Friday, sources confirmed that the FARDC controls Kanyabayonga. The situation remains volatile, several human rights activists have abandoned this entity which provides access to the Far North from the territory of Lubéro. Like other inhabitants, they too feared the progression of the M23 who remain positioned around Butalongola, a village located in a groupement Kanyabayonga, Bwito chiefdom. Given the worrying situation in North Kivu, the youth of Libero are mobilizing together to face the Rwandan army and asking the population to remain calm, not abandoning the city to finally fight together with the FARDC.

Tshisekedi appoints a new head of Domestic intelligence

Daniel Lusadisu ousted, Justin Inzun Kakiak son returns to security affairs at the ANR! 31 05, 2024 Are the Belgians incapable? This Friday, by a presidential order, Justin Inzun Kakiak was appointed head of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Kakiak, who had already led the ANR from March 2019 to December 2021, succeeds Daniel Lusadisu Kiambi. Kakiak is not unknown in the field of Congolese intelligence. After his first mandate at the head of the ANR, he was named Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Congo, a position he held until his recent appointment. Before his first appointment in 2019, he had already been deputy administrator of the ANR, which gives him in-depth knowledge of the institution. Daniel Lusadisu Kiambi, Kakiak's predecessor, had replaced Jean Hervé Mbelu as head of the ANR. Lusadisu, a doctor specializing in cardiology and emergency medicine trained at the Royal Military Academy in Belgium, had also served within of the Zairian Armed Forces and the Special Presidential Division (DSP). His dismissal comes in a tense context, marked by recent events described as a failed coup attempt by the authorities. Justin Inzun Kakiak will be supported by Justin Mulumba Nsabua, lawyer at the Kongo Central bar, as deputy administrator. When he became president, Félix Tshilombo promised to reform the ANR by humanizing the institution and closing its many secret dungeons, places of detention for many opponents and anti-Kabila activists. The appointment of Kakiak could be seen as a step in the pursuit of this reform. The national and international community is now waiting to see how Kakiak will address the current intelligence challenges in the DRC, particularly in a still unstable political and security climate. Kanyabayonga still under the FARDC and Wazalendo despite the social media rumours that it has been captured.

After violent clashes on Thursday in the hills overlooking Sake, the situation is calm this Friday. SADC bombings have reduced a M23_RDF reserve force to dust in Rumeneti. Several deaths have been reported in Mushaki, including officers and soldiers bombed in their positions in the Mushaki hills, says our source on site. In Kanyabayonga, the FARDC still controls the city despite the advance of the rebels as far as Butalongola, less than 15 km away. The FARDC positions remain intact towards Armoiries. In the territory of Masisi, fighting broke out at 4 a.m. between the M23-RDF and the Wazalendo. At 7:10 a.m., the Wazalendo, led by self-proclaimed General Kawiti, recovered the strategic Ndumba hill for a few hours. At 9:30 a.m., a reinforcement of the M23 from Kiluku and nambi/kabase has just succeeded in repelling the wazalendo, thus regaining control of this locked hill of #Shasha and muremure. The wazalendo are reorganizing, the situation remains volatile. Fighting has also been reported since 5 a.m. on Kasopo hill in the Bashali group. As of now, after a day of urban fighting, the Wazalendo and FARDC have taught the M23 a very good lesson, and claims to have killed an M23 commander in these clashes for kanyabayonga.

A YOUNG MAN SUSPECTED SPY OF THE M23 REBELS WAS STONED THEN BURNED IN MUGUNGA

He was stoned on Thursday, May 30, 2024 by the angry population, mostly displaced by war, not far from the Lushagala camp in the Mugunga district. According to local testimonies, this alleged M23 spy was filming the positions of the FARDC in Lushagala from or the army would have responded. According to the population, he was filming to direct the M23 rebels who were seeking to destroy the heavy weapons of the FARDC who had been shooting at them since 4 a.m. ''There were 3 of them and they filmed each time it was fired, the direction from which the shots from the heavy weapons of the Congolese army and the SAMIDRC came and sent the images to the M23_RDF. When the population approached from him his two others vanished into the Lushagala camp. After the population got their hands on him, he began to ask for forgiveness, begging to go and show where those who entrusted him with this filming mission were. But under the influence of anger and without qualms. , the population burned him alive after being stoned. ''explains a resident at the scene. The president of Mugunga civil society, Christian KALAMO condemns this case of popular justice which benefited the enemy rather than the loyalist forces. A resident explains: ''His phone is proof, he was filming the heavy weapons, he had already sent the photos to members of the M23, we have suffered for a long time, we cannot tolerate that someone for their own interests continues to attack us. .'' This is an act that we do not encourage, by carrying out this act the country lends a lot of information which was to help the country. The person killed would be a lead exploited to have all the information necessary to properly identify the sponsors . But when the population does mob justice, the government loses many things that it would have revealed and informed.
