The identification of all military members of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) deployed in three eastern provinces of the country (North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri) began as planned on Saturday, June 20 2020 in Goma in North Kivu.
The operation was launched by General Major Isidore Kahumbu, Chief of Staff of the Congolese army. The first to be identified is General Edmond Ilunga, Commander of the 34th Military Region.
He has warned all elements that are not going to be identified, to face criminal charges and several social consequences.
" I invite all military members of the 34th military region (North Kivu ed), to move to control individually and in their units, because at the end of this control, any military who will not be identified will be considered not part of our forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with all the legal and social consequences ", warned General Edmond Ilunga.
In the provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri, where the army has been in full-scale military operation for the tracking of armed groups since October 2019, the commanders of all units are called upon to implement all the means for the success of this operation.
