7 civilians killed by rebels in the village of mwenda in ruwenzori sector

7 civilians were shot dead on the night of Saturday to Sunday, August 16, 2020 in the village of Mwenda in the Ruwenzori sector, Beni territory in the province of North Kivu.
The information is revealed  by the village chief,
“This morning, my village is in mourning. The rebels stormed the village up to a few meters from my administrative office. Ic, they killed 5 civilians before going to execute 2 others in a neighborhood called Kimanza. In their suite they took hostage 2 children who cannot be found but also they looted commercial goods and medicines in 3 kiosks and 2 pharmacies alongside several carried away pets, ”explained Eteni Muvunga Kimwele.
This authority specifies that the rebels who had just been repulsed by the FARDC elements at midday of Saturday, August 15, returned at midnight hours by deviating from the positions of the loyalist forces to the outskirts of the village where they began to shoot several shots in order to operate freely.
This Sunday, the tension is high in this region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Some inhabitants empty the place and go, some to Mutwanga, capital of the Ruwenzori sector and others to Bulongo and the town of Beni.
