 The militiamen of the rebel coalition known as "Republic of Kivu" are accused of insecurity and ransom the population of Irambi-Katana, a group located around the Kahuzi Biega National Park, in the territory of Kabare (South Kivu).


 

Thaddée Miderho, administrator of the Kabare territory explains that they are two armed groups, one led by the warlord Nshokano and the other by a certain Soleil, close to the self-proclaimed general Chance Mihonya (who is currently in prison).


"These two armed groups operate in the sub-village of Cirehe and in the village of Mabingu in the Irambi-Katana groupement. Hutus have been reported among their elements, some are said to have spears and others to have weapons. for the moment is that the degree of nuisance is expressed. To go to the fields, these rebels force the peasants a sum of 500 Congolese francs and they beat those who do not have this sum ", he explained to on Saturday September 19, 2020.


The administrator of the territory of Kabare informs that he has already informed the officials of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and believes that an operation will soon be carried out to track down these rebels.


Meanwhile, Hubert Mulongoy, communication officer for Kahuzi Biega National Park (PNKB) reports that these rebels are also engaged in the exploitation of minerals in the Naweza river.


It should be remembered that the formation of this new rebellion comes 3 days after the signing of a commitment by nearly 70 armed groups to cease hostilities in the province of South Kivu.
