The FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) and the Ugandan People's Liberation Army (UPDF) may extend their joint operations to Djugu territory (Ituri) to pursue armed groups resisting the peace process, particularly the CRP of Tomas Lubanga.
The decision was discussed during a strategic meeting in Mahagi, aimed at strengthening military coordination and the security of the population.
The joint operations between the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and the Ugandan People's Democratic Movement (UPDF) could be extended to the northern part of Ituri province, particularly in Djugu territory. This issue was the focus of an important strategic and security meeting held on Wednesday, January 7, at the Caritas reception center in Mahagi, between senior officials from the Congolese and Ugandan armies, as well as local political authorities. The two sides discussed the possibility of conducting coordinated operations against armed groups that refuse to participate in the peace process, including the CRP of Tomas Lubanga.
According to our intelligence sources, Congolese side was represented at this meeting by the commanders of the FARDC's operational sector in Ituri, the provincial director of the ANR (National Intelligence Agency), the administrator of the Mahagi territory, and several other officers. On the Ugandan side, high-ranking officers active in operations and intelligence from the DRC and Kampala participated in this strategic meeting.
The objective is to track down all armed groups active in the Djougou territories and resistant to the peace process.
According to our military sources in mahagi, the focus has been heavily on the CRP militia of Tomas Lubanga, who are waging armed conflict in the Bulezi region. Political actors and other civil society organizations in Djugu support this initiative, which they believe could put an end to the vicious cycle of violence in this part of Ituri province.
... For God and My country ....
