ADF rebels signed a new incursion on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, August 26, in the Mbau sector, at the Batangi group in Beni territory, in the province of North Kivu.
The assistant administrator of Beni territory speaks of a provisional toll of at least 20 civilians killed and more than 5 others missing, including a one-year-old baby.
"The rebels attacked the Mbau sector in the Batangi grouping last night," Rosette Kavula said.
"We are counting about at least 20 dead and 5 missing, but we will know a little more after the search the army is doing to find the bodies," she told the press.
She added that the civilians killed in the attack were mostly farmers who were camping in their respective fields and who were surprised by the enemy.
Ms. Kavula reassured that the situation has returned to calm, but in a context of mourning.

The Scientific and Research Institute for Long-Distance Radar Communications (Russian acronym ‘NIIDAR’), a major Russian radar systems developer, is currently working on a new, cutting-edge radar capable of the precision detection of drone swarms, a spokesperson from the company’s press service said.

The spokesperson explained that although existing radar systems can detect drone swarms, they cannot discern their precise numbers, and detection can be spotty depending on the drones’ size.

“Several versions of the system are being developed – for sectoral and for omnidirectional control of airspace, with the ability to detect small and low-speed unmanned aerial vehicles, including those operating in swarms. The number of objects which can be detected simultaneously is limited only by the system’s computing power,” the spokesman said.

According to NIIDAR general director Kirill Makarov, amid the massed use of drones in a variety of settings today, the creation of the new radar will help operators ensure the safety of important infrastructure from airspace violations for industrial espionage, or other illegal purposes.

The company believes its radar system could prove useful for both government and private entities, and that it has major export potential.

Russia testing guided long range weapons on Mi-28NM

New types of guided weapons with longer range are being tested on the Mi-28NM helicopter, senior trial pilot and head of flight service at the national center for the helicopter-building, Sergey Maslov said.

US intelligence planes seen in China's space

Chinese Defence Ministry reported that a US U-2 reconnaissance plane flew into a no-fly zone of China's Northern Military District during military drills.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian, stated on Wednesday that the recent incident with US spy planes occurred in China's airspace.

"It happened within the Chinese airspace and territory, of course," Zhao said, when asked if the incident took pace in the international airspace.

The country's defence ministry has dubbed the incident a "naked provocation," adding that such moves could lead to misunderstandings and even to an incident at sea or in the air.

The incident came some time after China conducted two drills in Hainan Province. The drills came amid an unprecedented US military presence in the region. 

In early August, a Chinese think tank recorded 67 intelligence flights through the South China Sea in July alone, and Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Xinhua News Agency in an August 5 interview that “in the first half of this year alone, the US sent military aircraft there [to the South China Sea] more than 2,000 times.”

Google's High altitude balloon assigned to the Kenyan operation of Project Loon crashed down in Buta near kisangani

As i indicated last evening!According to our source,it is yesterday afternoon that a Project Loon Google machine fell on ground in Congolese territory.

9 civilians killed by alleged ADF in mapasana and mabuho in the evening of Monday and night of Tuesday.

9  civilians were killed with machetes and bullets by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) fighters in two different attacks in the villages of Mapasana and Mabuho, near the town of Mamove, west of the city of oicha, in the territory of Beni (North Kivu).This territory is slow getting overrun by ADF massacres.People in this territory can no longer carry on their activities normally as revealed by the locals.

Local civil societies indicate that the first attack first took place in the village of Mapasana,evening of Monday at 9 p.m which left three people dead.

The second, which killed six people, was recorded on Tuesday in the neighboring village of Mabuho, reports Kinos Katuho, president of civil society in Mamove. That makes a total of nine civilians killed in the 48 hour interval in this region. This figure could increase because six other people are missing, adds the same source.

Killings by Ugandan ADF rebels have inreased tremendously in Beni. Last week at least 24 deaths were reported on the Mbau-Kamango road in various attacks dating back to August 14, among the victims of whom were two soldiers of Congolese national army.
