A coalition of More than 65 indigenous armed groups to participate in a dialogue to bring peace in South kivu

A Coalition of the Forces of Patriots for the Defense of Congo (FPDC), which brings together more than 65 indigenous armed groups operating in eastern DRC, says it is ready to participate in the "cohesive leader retreat" dialogue planned in Murhesa in the South Kivu from September 14 to 16, 2020 to restore lasting peace in the east of the country.

In an address to the press last Thursday, Samy B'aasane Mwenemwenyi, president of this coalition, invites the regular army to cease fire to facilitate the movement of representatives of armed groups to the place of dialogue.

"On behalf of the coalition, we ask the FARDC to observe a ceasefire so that we have free movement from our bases to the place where we are called. We want to show the entire Congolese community and international that we want peace. We also want to evaluate the agreements of the dialogue of last December ", he declared.

He informs that only the Congolese government has not respected its commitments signed at the end of the retreat of December 2019. The president of this coalition cites in particular the non-release until this day of all elements of armed groups detained in prisons.
