The Democratic Republic of Congo launched the Mobile Device Registry (RAM) on September 24 This is a central mobile terminal database that certifies device compliance from International Mobile Equipment Identity Number (IMEI).

RAM is a system of checking mobile device compliance with standards defined by the Association of Mobile Telephone Network Operators (GSMA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on the basis of the IMEI number, block access to national network of any stolen or lost mobile device and to fight counterfeiting via disconnection of networks of any mobile device recognized as non-compliant by RAM.

As of September 24, 2022, no more counterfeit devices will be operational in Congolese territory, reassured the authorities.

Systems adopted around the world (EIR, CEIR, RAM), based on authenticating a unique identifier (IMEI number), are addressing the problem of counterfeiting. The mobile device registration system is actually a measure taken by national authorities as well as regional and international bodies to prevent the import of products of poor quality and dubious origin that do not meet the required technical standards.

To better understand this government initiative, discover RAM in 10 points: Fight against theft With RAM, the ROC flight rate will decline significantly as any aircraft reportedly stolen (or lost) will now be blocked and therefore unusable ...

Fighting counterfeiting With a ability to recognize the real of fake through mobile registration, RAM identifies counterfeit devices and aims to eliminate them from the market.

Protecting health RAM protects the Congolese people by fighting against counterfeit devices whose composition of toxic chemicals (such as lead) in uncontrolled proportions seriously harms health.

Safeguarding physical and personal data By reducing theft of mobile devices, RAM protects potential victims of physical and moral assault if abductors blackmail them about their found personal data.

Verify Mobile Device Compliance RAM has the ability to certify the compliance of any equipment connected to mobile networks with the International Mobile Equipment Identity Number (IMEI) and the standards defined by GSMA and ITU.

Check Device Status By visiting

www.ram.cd or texting the IMEI, RAM identifies an original or counterfeit device, specifies the payment status of the certification fee and whether a device is blocked due to a robbery or something.

Declaring Multi-SIM Device RAM provides multi-Sim device users with the ability to declare their terminal to pay certification fees from a single account.

Checking his payments from RAM, no matter the operator, the user can check the status of his certification payments.

Block a device Grace to RAM, the owner of a stolen or lost mobile device can request to block his device. It is through the operator that this request should take place. Blocking an IMEI number, the phone is no longer functional.

Unlocking their mobile device With RAM, the owner of a mobile device can request to unlock their device by notifying their IMEI to their operator who will request unlocking to RAM.

RAM makes its service available to users through operators. Accordingly, it is recommended to contact the network operator responsible for connecting his device for any information or to go to the website:
