Burundi declines invitation again

Evariste Ndayishimiye, Burundian president

Burundi will not take part in the summit initiated by President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, held in Goma on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

The presidency of the Democratic Republic of the Congo confirming this news has reported that Burundi justifies this absence because of the desire to clear its differences with Rwanda.

A Congolese delegation led by the Foreign Minister stayed last weekend in Bujumbura to try to convince Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye to no avail.

Thus, a summit is held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and Angola with the objectives of strengthening cross-border security, development and diplomatic relations.
