1. At 8:00 PM, heavily armed individuals wearing uniforms similar to those commonly used by M23 troops occupied the center of Burungu for one hour. These individuals deployed to the homes of M23 rebel movement officials and even surrounded a drinking establishment where M23 officers were consuming alcohol. 2. Immediately upon deploying, these unidentified gunmen opened fire on the M23 officers and their escorts; the toll: nearly 30 rebel fighters, including a colonel and a major, were killed on the spot. 3. Clashes have been reported since early this morning at RUDUHA and SHENGEZIMU, in the NGOMO escarpments along the RN5 highway, near the border between the DRC and Rwanda. According to local sources, the fighting involves Rwandan M23-RDF terrorists and the Wazalendo, who are defending Congolese territory. RUDUHA and SHENGEZIMU are located approximately 8 kilometers from Nyangezi town center, about 100 kilometers from Bukavu, and around 20 kilometers from Kamanyola.  Heavy fighting at Mboko na Ng'ombe, near Kilembwe, in Lulenge Sector, Basimimbi District, from the night of Sunday, September 27, 2026 and throughout Monday, brought together AFC/M23/Twirwaneho fighters with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC), Burundian troops and Wazalendo rebels and FDLR, which ended with the fighters retreating, some fleeing to Fizi-centre and others to Makembe. According  to our confidants on the frontline,Four civilians have died and three children were injured in Miko (Masisi territory) following the explosion of bombs dropped by kamikaze drones suspicioysly belonging to M23 rebels allied with Rwanda. According to reports I have received  from Masisi territory this morning, late on the evening of Friday, September 25, 2026, M23 rebels allied with Rwanda launched massive kamikaze drone attacks on the towns of Remeka and Nkokwe, eventually dislodging the Wazalendo. According,to our military intelligence sources inside the M23 circles,numerous kamikaze drones targeted specific wazalendo positions,injuries,fatalities and death are expected within the ranks of wazalendo,said one M23 member.   Shipwreck on Lake Tanganyika: At least 41 dead and 49 rescued At least 41 people have died in the shipwreck of a boat connecting Kigoma to Kalemie, near the village of Mapera. Gunfire is currently being heard at night in the city of Uvira, South Kivu Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). According to a local resident who spoke to me some few minutes back, fighting is taking place in Uvira between the Kinshasa government forces (FARDC) and the "Wazalendo " group, led by the man calling himself General Makanaki Kasimbira John. Reports indicate that the Wazalendo  group is engaging the FARDC, sparking intense clashes in the area. This situation has caused great fear among Uvira residents; the sound of gunfire continuing into the night has left many feeling unsafe in their homes.

  Facts on the ground in recent days in the face of speculation, rumors, and disinformation: 1. In the town of Ngungu in the territory of Masisi, there has never been any panic, contrary to the false information that has been circulating intensely on social media for several days. This town remains under the control of the M23 rebels allied with Rwanda. 2. Likewise, the localities of Kasake, kashovu,  in the depths of Ngungu remain under rebel control. 3. Violent fighting between the AFC/M23 and government forces, supported by Wazalendo armed groups, continues this Tuesday, September 22 in several areas of Masisi territory, in North Kivu.   According to claims from different sources,and OSINT collections ,Tanzanian soldiers are said to have entered Burundi via the Kagunga border post in Tanzania before joining Nyanza-Lac. On the ground, they reportedly changed their military uniforms to Burundian uniforms and were integrated into Burundian units. The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) have been conducting targeted strikes and tactical maneuvers in South Kivu province for several days, according to Second Lieutenant Reagan Mbuyi, spokesperson for the Sukola 2 South operations. In Fizi territory (Lulenge sector), military command reports having regained control of the villages of Natulonge and Nagushushu following combat operations aimed at pinning down enemy positions along the Nyamiringa–Mukoko axis. The armed forces state their intention to continue advancing toward Kakenge. Meanwhile, in Uvira territory, the FARDC report territorial gains on the right flank of the Mitamba sector. Military command’s stated objective is to curtail the maneuverability of insurgent groups operating in the area and to open a strategic corridor toward Mulambia.

A new case of Ebola virus disease was confirmed on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in the Kayna health zone of North Kivu, according to the AFC/M23 Health Crisis Unit. The patient is a 21-year-old man from Butembo, identified as a suspected case at the Itsu health checkpoint before being transferred to the Kirumba quarantine site. Tests subsequently confirmed his infection. Patient care, as well as community surveillance and contact tracing, have been intensified.
