M23 re-captures severa villages as wazalendo cries of limited reinforcements

According  to our confidants on the frontline,Four civilians have died and three children were injured in Miko (Masisi territory) following the explosion of bombs dropped by kamikaze drones suspicioysly belonging to M23 rebels allied with Rwanda.


As of this morning, the Wazalendo are holding the Miko position, though the situation remains highly precarious.


The rebels have already retaken control of the settlements of Muhororo, Nkokwe, Remeka, and Tushunguti, which had recently been captured by the Wazalendo.


Miko and Kaleta—villages recently captured by the Wazalendo—remain under their control; however, the situation remains volatile.


Sources state that, so far, the Wazalendo have received no air or ground support from the 34th Military Region or the FARDC air force—a situation that is discouraging the young volunteers' resistance on the ground.

Following violent clashes between Wazalendo resistance fighters and AFC-M23 rebels in the Masisi territory of North Kivu province, several villages had fallen under rebel control, including Remeka, Miko, Kaleta, Kashukano, and Muhororo.


According to our intelligence  sources in the Masisi territory, the locality of Ntekomiko had in turn come under the control of the AFC-M23 as on Saturday, September 26, 2026.


In South Kivu province, within the Mwenga territory, the locality of Mibunda had also come under the control of M23-Twirwaneho/AFC rebels as of Friday, September 25, 2026.

Reports from Uvira-Mwenga axis.

On Thursday, September 24, Wazalendo fighters provoked M23 AFC rebels in Kashongo. Following clashes, the Wazalendo were repelled. After receiving reinforcements from Masango, they were pushed back once again into the Kashongo forest.


On Friday, September 25, 2026, the rebels attacked Wazalendo positions in Magunda and retook control of the locality, causing the population to flee. Additional M23-Twirwaneho reinforcements—arriving from Muravya via Tutanga and passing through Mlebela at Meta—then advanced along two axes: one toward Meta and the other toward Kakuku.


As a result, the entire population of Meta fled to Namalamala, while the population of Magunda fled to Masango.


It is worth noting that these two villages—Meta and Magunda—which have just fallen under the control of M23-Twirwaneho/AFC, formed the only route connecting Uvira (on the shores of Lake Tanganyika) to the Itombwe highlands in Mwenga, towards Kipupu. Residents relied on this route through Meta and Magunda to obtain soap, salt, and other essential goods. For the time being, access is completely cut off.


In summary, the villages of Lubebe, Mbundamo, Masango, Meta, Kakuku, and Kashongo have all come under the control of M23-Twirwaneho/AFC rebels.
