 The United States of America and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed this Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Palais de la Nation in Kinshasa, a memorandum of understanding for American-Congolese military cooperation. According to the US Ambassador to the DRC, Mike Hammer, the realization of this memorandum of understanding is largely due to the commitment of President Tshisekedi and his administration to fight against human trafficking and hold them to account. for any abuse. "By signing this protocol, the United States responds to the will of President Tshisekedi and Minister of National Defense Mukena to meet the demands of a modern army and help the FARDC to professionalize and improve the quality of life of their soldiers, ”said Mike Hammer. This memorandum of understanding, signed by the American ambassador accredited to the DRC and the Minister of National Defense, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior Gilbert Kandonde who represented the Head of State, is based on 4 pillars (areas) namely: - Civil-military cooperation; - Strategic communications; - Technical support for construction; - And support for learning English. In the 4 aforementioned areas, the country of Donald Trump will help the FARDC to achieve their objectives of improving communication with the civilian population, emphasizing human rights and continuing to professionalize its force, in particular through to English-language programs that "will open even more avenues for military training." According to Mike Hammer, with this Memorandum of Understanding, the United States of America shows its commitment to work with the DRC for the improvement of the armed forces of two countries and the continued growth of relations between the USA and the DRC .
