The Somali government is reporting that al-Shabaab attackers on the village of Qodqod in central Galmudug state have been repulsed and were inflicted heavy Losses. 
The govt claimed that over 30 militants were killed in Qodqod and the nearby Sirgo village. Statement by confirms govt troops received support from local fighters in pushing back the militants. Interior Minister said the commander of al-Shabaab militants behind the attack (Mohamed Bashir Muse) was also killed in the fighting. No independent confirmation regarding casualty figures.
