The Territorial Police in Greater Bushenyi and Buhweju CPS, are investigating circumstances under which Hon. Mwijukye Francis, MP Buhweju Constituency, was attacked and injured, while responding to a land conflict on the 12.05.2024 at 3:30pm at Nyakishana Sub-county.

The Hon. At the scene, the Hon. MP was by a rival group, armed with sticks. During the violent confrontation, the Hon. The public should know that legislators are representatives of their constituents and shoulder the responsibility of Parliament. Therefore, any threats of violence against legislators, is an attack on the core of our democracy. These acts of impunity against our legislators will not be tolerated.

We are actively investigating the matter and will ensure the perpetrators are brought to book
