War in kamanyola this friday!
Fighting broke out as early as 5:30 this Friday, December 5, on several fronts in South Kivu. According to local testimonies, the M23 rebels, backed by the Rwandan army, launched attacks against the positions of Congolese forces and their allies. Violent clashes are thus opposing rebels against troops of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) — and their allies — in several sectors of South Kivu.

Burundian foreign minister closes border with Rwanda on allegations of many arms crossing the border
Rwanda allegedly closesBugarama/Kamanyola border following tense situation as futile wazalendo claim readiness for any attack
This Wednesday, December 3, 2025, intense fighting breaks out on
the DRC-Rwanda border: the Congolese government forces (FARDC), supported by
the "Wazalendo" fighters, face Rwandan soldiers allied with the M23
group.
The hostilities target especially the Kamanyola area in South
Kivu, as well as the hills surrounding Rubarika.
According to military intelligence reports I have enmassed since
morning, FARDC and Wazalendo are preparing to retake Kamanyola — a strategic
point — following an offensive carried out along the Katogota axis towards
Kamanyola.
In response, the Rwandan authorities have reportedly decided to
close the border checkpoint between Kamanyola and the Rwandan city of Bugarama
in Rusizi District. In other words, alleged airstrikes are reportedly targeting
a border bridge on River Ruzizi, linking Bugarama to Kamanyola.
Wazalendo's have been opposed to the general command: they had
been asked to withdraw from certain positions on national road number 5. Following
their refusal, the General-in-charge reportedly agreed to continue jointly
FARDC-Wazalendo operations "until the country is completely
liberated."
Wazalendo fighters have taken over part of Kamanyola, particularly around the building belonging to Senator Katintima, following violent clashes with rebels.
"We are already controlling part of Kamanyola, specifically in the neighborhood said at Katintima. We are also consolidating our positions in Katogota. "In the coming hours, the entire Kamanyola congestion could be under our control," said the general.
According to security sources, Rwandan drones reportedly attacked the joint FARDC-Wazalendo positions during the night in order to seize the Kamanyola bridge and prevent the arrival of Congolese reinforcements. "They have been neutralized, but fighting is still going on from this morning up to now," according to an official source.
It is worth noting that the Kigali-backed M23 attacks commenced the day before yesterday against the FARDC-Wazalendo positions. Despite these offenses and rumors circulating on social networks, the Congolese forces maintain their control over the agglomerations of Luvingi, Sange and Lubarika.
The Sukola 2 South Operations Command, in South Kivu, has formally denied, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, rumors that the FARDC would have banned Wazalendo fighters from fighting the AFC-M23 rebels.
In a statement, the Loyalist Forces denounce audio attributed to a alleged Wazalendo fighter and presented as a "Rwandan poison" intended to cause confusion in the opinion.
"The Commander of Operational Sector Sukola 2 South, Brigadier General Chiviri Hamuli, strongly condemns the false rumors circulated on social media, stating an alleged ban on the Wazalendo's from fighting the enemy," the document read.
Command warns the authors of this "crazy rumor," threatening lawsuits for "disrupting reality on the ground."
The FARDC also reminds that the army and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) "will not fall into the trap of the RDF/M23-AFC mafia networks, whose aim is to weaken the morale of the population and sabotage the good collaboration that exists on the ground."
According to Intelligence collections from within wazalendo,General Hamuli finally calls on the people not to give in to manipulation, hammering that "all this is just Rwandan poison.
Yesterday 2 December 2025, RDF/M23/RED/Twirwaneho/FNL from Nzabampema were allegedlybeaten badly in Katogota.
Accordingly and allegedly, insiders in wazalendo claim that the RDF special forces brigade, commanded by Colonel Mugabo, was in Nyamasheke in Rusizi District, and crossed Bugarama border heading to Kamanyola to provide assistance.

KEY POINTS TO NOTE!
- Rwanda has just closed its border of Bugarama/Kamanyola justifying this by the will to avoid infiltration into its territory, says our
source on the spot.
- Congolese civilians who wanted to cross this Congolese Rwandan border are blocked on the Congolese part.
- There is massive deployment on the side of the wazalendo, as one wazalendo self proclaimed general in names of Meshack is futile and ready for any attack.
- wazalendo claiming having taken over control of the kamanyola bridge.
- The wazalendo claim that Rwandan army has started firing from Bugarama (Rwanda), to support those in Kamanyola and that they will have no choice but to fight back to Bugarama/Rwanda.
- Wazalendo also claim that Multiple rocket launchers and machine guns are in operation, firing from Rwandan soil (Bugarama).
- Wazallendo claims that If the gunfire from the Rwandan territory in Bugarama continue, they will be forced to neutralize the threat at its source, meaning they will also send their fire to Rwandana soil.

what of the fighting that broke up between UPDF and FARDC in Djugu?
There is a reported crash that happened on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in the town of Djugu, 75 kilometers north of Bunia in Ituri province, where the armies of the two countries usually cooperate in operations against armed groups.
The clash arose from a conflict between the two forces, which are engaged in this war, after the UPDF arrested two civilians suspected of being CODECO fighters.
According to the head of the Djugu Territory and other sources, the clash took place at around 4:00 am on Tuesday, December 2, when gunshots were heard near the headquarters of the local administration.
According to allegations, some Ugandan soldiers, who were drunk, fired at the FARDC camp, which led to a clash between the two countries.
There are also allegations of that shortly before this incident, FARDC soldiers had gone to the UPDF base to demand the release of the detainees, but a disagreement arose, leading to a clash.
The clash left two FARDC soldiers dead, including the bodyguard of the Djugu leader, while another was seriously injured.
The Ugandan military also seized two AK-47 rifles, two boxes of ammunition, six full magazines, and an estimated 1.6 million Congolese francs.

Kinshasha reacts on the recent citations on the opening of Goma airport!
On the ground and among officials, tensions persist between the authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo and those of Rwanda, despite the Washington peace agreement signed between the two countries under the auspices of the United States.
During a press conference in Kigali on Thursday, November 27, 2025, Rwandan President Paul Kagame appeared to stand firm on his position, making the neutralization of the FDLR the primary condition for the return of peace to the region. He emphasized his role as guarantor of Rwanda's internal security in the face of what he considers a threat from the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), which he describes as genocidal forces supported, according to him, by the Kinshasa regime.
“I used to tell Congolese leaders that for us to have security in our country and the peace for which we have fought for so many years, this is an essential condition. We must grant each other peace. I cannot ask anyone for peace as a favor, no. For us to have peace, I beg you, you must do me a favor, give me my peace? That's another world I don't live in. I cannot ask anyone to do me a favor so that Rwanda is safe or so that my rights are respected. At first, I might ask you if you wish, or even beg you, but if you do not give me my rights, then we will fight, that's clear,” said Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda.
Faced with the controversy sparked by the Paris Humanitarian Conference regarding the reopening of Goma airport, Rwandan President Paul Kagame has sided with the AFC/M23 rebellion, arguing that the current humanitarian crisis is not the same as it was before the occupation of Goma. He also stated that any negotiations concerning the airport must take place with the current authorities, namely the AFC/M23 rebellion.
"Regarding Goma, I don't entirely understand. As for the humanitarian crisis, yes, there is suffering, that's undeniable. But it seems there was even more suffering before the crisis, or rather, before it began. Today, I think the suffering persists, but perhaps it is less severe. However, talking so much about a humanitarian crisis is a way of finding an entry point, an easy entry point, to then shape it to suit one's own narrative, according to how some perceive history." “I’m speaking. We can’t talk about a humanitarian crisis without highlighting its root cause,” stated Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
In Kinshasa, President Kagame’s latest remarks are seen as a claim of responsibility for the actions carried out by the AFC/M23 rebellion. According to government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya, the DRC expects Rwanda to honor its commitments within the framework of ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring peace to the eastern part of the country.
“I believe it is the father who is taking responsibility for the son’s actions. If you have been following him, there is absolutely no ambiguity. We expect him to uphold his commitments within the diplomatic process in which we are engaged. We will have the opportunity to revisit this in the coming days to assess who has fulfilled their obligations to restore peace to this part of the country and allow our people to freely go about their business,” reacted Patrick Muyaya, government spokesperson, on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
He condemned Paul Kagame’s denialist behavior, which seeks to deny the existence of the humanitarian crisis in eastern DRC in order to oppose the reopening of Goma airport. Patrick Muyaya reaffirmed the government's commitment to doing everything possible to restore state authority.
"North Kivu province is governed by the military governor from Beni, just as South Kivu province is governed from the city of Uvira. Parts of the territory are occupied, and we are working on this daily. You saw that the 2026 budget allocates 30% to security. So, the message we must reiterate to all our people who may have been victims of this manipulation is that we are working to ensure that every square inch of national territory is returned to us and that every Congolese life is preserved. Those who deny the existence of the humanitarian crisis the world is witnessing cannot present themselves as the solution, because they are the problem. They are the ones preventing the Goma airport from opening, they are the ones who killed, they are the ones who..."
"They attacked schools and they will be held accountable," the government spokesperson emphasized.
While progress on the ground remains limited in terms of de-escalation between Kinshasa and Kigali, as well as between Kinshasa and the AFC/M23 rebellion, the American mediation process appears to be on schedule. The various stakeholders involved in the Washington process, facilitated by the United States, are, for the time being, meeting the established deadlines.
At the last meeting of the Joint Security Coordination Mechanism (JSCM), held on November 19 and 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C., with representatives from the DRC, Rwanda, the United States, Qatar, Togo (the African Union mediator), and the African Union Commission in attendance, participants assessed the level of implementation of the Washington agreement, signed nearly four months prior, on June 27. 2025.
"The DRC and Rwanda have committed to advancing the Order of Operations (OPORD) in order to implement the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) of the harmonized plan for the neutralization of the FDLR and the disengagement of forces/lifting of defensive measures by Rwanda." The JSCM observers welcomed the efforts made by the Parties to facilitate the continued demobilization, repatriation, and reintegration of FDLR members,” reads the final communiqué from the U.S. State Department.
During the same meeting, participants reviewed progress made in the first phase of the OPORD, including updates on intelligence sharing and information operations conducted by the DRC to engage accessible communities and encourage FDLR members to lay down their arms. The Parties engaged in open discussions to address ongoing challenges and identify gaps and opportunities to ensure the success of the first phase. JSCM members also began discussions on the second phase of the OPORD, including actions to neutralize the FDLR and lift Rwanda’s defensive measures.
Following the fall of Goma and Bukavu and the collapse of the Luanda process, the Washington Agreement and the Doha process now constitute the two complementary aspects of diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the persistent conflicts in eastern DRC, particularly those involving Rwanda and armed groups such as the M23.
The Public opinion on the deployments of Burundian army inside DRC
While the actions of the Burundian National Defense Force (FDNB) continue to divide public opinion – with some observers describing the army as having “reconverted into mercenaries” serving the head of state and a handful of high-ranking officers – Gitega continues to assert its role in stabilizing eastern DRC, where more than 10,000 Burundian soldiers are deployed.
On the eve of a press conference followed by a direct exchange with reporters, several key questions should be addressed directly:
1️⃣ The abuses attributed to the Burundian army in the Minembwe Highlands (South Kivu), particularly against Banyamulenge civilians.
2️⃣ The families of soldiers killed in action who are still waiting for promised but never paid compensation, according to numerous testimonies. 3️⃣ The lack of logistics and equipment denounced by soldiers in operation, despite the scale of the deployment in Congolese territory.
4️⃣ The reported participation of Burundian troops in fighting alongside Congolese militias, raising questions about the doctrine of engagement.
5️⃣ The existence of an informal parallel command, accused of causing heavy losses within the FDNB and bypassing the regular military chain of command.
6️⃣ And above all: how to explain that, despite this massive deployment and direct involvement in the crisis, Burundi was not included in the diplomatic talks in Doha and Washington—unlike Rwanda—and what strategy does Gitega intend to adopt to be recognized as a key player in the search for peace in eastern Congo?
Reinforcements along Nyabyondo-Pinga axiss
AFC/M23 rebels have been reinforcing their positions in Lukweti, in the Banyungu area (Masisi territory) of North Kivu, since last weekend. Lukweti is located on the Nyabiondo-Pinga road.
Columns of rebel fighters have arrived in Lukweti, several local sources have confirmed.
This reinforcement arrives in the area after the Wazalendo rebels captured Kinyumba on Thursday, November 27, following violent clashes between the warring parties. The security situation remains volatile in this part of the Banyungu area.
Declaration of the end of Ebola in DRC....
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is preparing to declare today the end of the Ebola virus disease epidemic that occurred this year in Bulape, Kasai.
This good news marks another victory in the fight against this dangerous virus, but vigilance must remain high because the DRC is located in the natural habitat of the animals that host the Ebola virus.
