According to Intelligence reports reaching us now from the locals,"Since the night of January 24th, the ADF have been terrorizing the population of the village of Musenge in Lubero territory, where they burned down several houses (almost the entire village), a health center, and a Catholic church. So far, we mourn the deaths of two soldiers who were burned beyond recognition. A large part of the local population is fleeing to the city of Butembo, located at least 30 kilometers away. The current toll is only provisional.
ADF terrorists specifically attacked this village of Musenge (Mbata locality, Baswagha chiefdom), following several reported incursions into other villages in the area. Fires were observed, and the death toll from this attack is not yet known.
According to local community leaders, previous attacks have already resulted in more than 25 civilian deaths, 63 houses burned, 2 motorcycles destroyed, and one person seriously injured.
The Mwenye Local Youth Council, through its president Prince Kasyano, is calling on provincial authorities and security services to take urgent measures to ensure the protection of the population.
The local population from other ssorrounding villages are too calling upon the armies of UPDF AND FARDC to rescue them from these atrocious rebels.
We thus call upon the intelligence of both armies to carryon missions in this area to full study the situation.we cannot let the innocent civilians suffer or be exterminated.
We are awaiting further information from the security team of the Congolese and Ugandan armies deployed in this area to obtain a complete assessment."
