GENERAL BAUDOUIN MISSING—IS THE M23 FACING AN INTERNAL POWER STRUGGLE? Tensions within the M23 are taking a new turn. According to reports ; a plot to undermine General Sultani Makenga’s authority has reportedly been thwarted, exposing deep rifts within the movement's military and political leadership. Amidst this situation, General Baudouin Ngaruye—a former close associate of Bosco Ntaganda and a key M23 military figure—is now reported missing. There is also talk of his removal from Makenga’s command structure. Baudouin Ngaruye is among the M23 leaders subject to international sanctions, including those imposed by the UN, the United States, and the European Union. One question remains: what is really happening at the top of the M23? Between rivalries, arrests, leadership changes, and power struggles, the cracks are becoming increasingly apparent. At this rate, those who claimed to speak with a single voice may first have to settle scores among themselves.

A new way for cybercriminals to create fake social media profiles and carry identity scams using Artificial Intelligence powered tool? A couple of months ago  it was reported that  NVIDIA has developed a tool that uses Artificial Intelligence to create extremely realistic human faces which in reality do not exist. Now, there is a website that is currently receiving a lot of attention online due to a similar function. Apparently, the website can recreate realistic fstent people by just hitting the Refresh button. Designed by a software engineer Philip Wang, who works at Uber, the website can generate fake but realistic looking human faces of people who don’t actually exist, using artificial intelligence. The website is hosted at  ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com . Wang used the research from NVIDIA’s algorithm StyleGAN to produce an infinite stream of fake portraits because the algorithm that he has used can generate a plethora of real images and use the generative ...

Attacking the Qualcomm's GPU

-
 - When writing an Android exploit, breaking out of the application sandbox is often a key step. There are a wide range of remote attacks that give you code execution with the privileges of an application (like the browser or a messaging application), but a sandbox escape is still required to gain full system access. This blog post focuses on an interesting attack surface that is accessible from the Android application sandbox: the graphics processing unit (GPU) hardware. We describe an unusual vulnerability in Qualcomm's Adreno GPU, and how it could be used to achieve kernel code execution from within the Android application sandbox. This research was built upon the work by Guang Gong (@oldfresher ), who reported CVE-2019-10567 in August 2019. One year later, in early August 2020, Guang Gong released an excellent whitepaper describing CVE-2019-10567, and some other vulnerabilities that allowed full system compromise by a remote attacker. However in June 2020, I noticed that the pa...

After almost six decades with Heckler & Koch, the German Bundeswehr appears to have selected a new supplier for its assault rifle.  A MK556 configuration shown on Haenel’s site (Haenel Defense) C.G. Haenel MK556 Won German Army Tender To Replace G36 The C.G. Haenel  company belongs to the Merkel Group, which is part of the Tawazun Holding (United Arab Emirates). The group also owns Caracal. According to several sources the German Ministry of Defense has chosen C.G. Haenel GmbH to supply the next German Assault Weapon. The initial report came from the German Press Agency (DPA) and has been widely quoted. At the time of writing neither the Bundeswehr nor Haenel have made official statements. Haenel is already supplying the Bundeswehr with the Haenel RS9 sniper rifle (designated the G29 in German service). Despite this they have long been seen as the underdog in the Bundeswehr’s search for a new service rifle. The total deal is probably worth in the region of 245 milli...
