President Tshisekedi has again vowed never to negotiate with m23

 

President Félix Tshilombo reiterates his refusal to discuss with the M23 rebels whom he describes as terrorists. "I do not want to negotiate with the M23," he declared.

"The M23 is an empty shell." President Tshilombo accuses Rwanda of trying to pass off the M23 as a Congolese armed movement, stating that it is in reality a creation of the Rwandan army intended to defend Rwandan interests in Congo, including the plundering of minerals. "We prefer to talk to Rwanda," he declared again.

For their part,

The AFC-M23 rebels reaffirm their readiness to engage in direct discussions with Kinshasa on an IMMEDIATE ceasefire!

But they warn that they will be forced to take Uvira and Minembwe if the attacks on their positions continue and the exactions (robbery, rapes, killings by Wazalendo and FARDC) do not stop.

UN security council resolution 2773 compels Rwanda to withdraw from congo

 

The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution calling on the M23 to end hostilities in the DRC. The Rwandan Defense Forces must immediately cease their support for the M23 and withdraw from the DRC. It is imperative that the DRC and Rwanda urgently resume diplomatic negotiations, without preconditions.

RESOLUTION 2773 - UN 🇺🇳

- Strongly condemns the actions and advances of the M23 in North and South Kivu with the support of the Rwanda Defense Forces.

- Reaffirms that the M23 must immediately cease hostilities, withdraw from Goma, Bukavu and all controlled areas.

- Reiterates its urgent call on all parties to conclude an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

- Calls on the Rwanda Defense Forces to cease their support to the M23 and to immediately withdraw from the territory of the DRC without conditions.

- Strongly urges the DRC and Rwanda to return unconditionally to diplomatic discussions as a matter of urgency.

"Anthony Nkinzo Kamole was appointed Chief of Staff to the Congolese Head of State on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

Prior to his new role, Nkinzo served as the Director General of the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments (ANAPI). During his tenure at ANAPI, he actively participated in discussions on business climate reforms."
