Nothing from Washington as it was from Doha!War must continue.

As Kagame and TSHISEKEDI are expected in Washington in the coming days,The ceasefire remains virtually nonexistent as clashes persist in the region. Following Kilungutwe and Kasika's advance to Kidasa in the Mwenga territory, our intelligence report that the M23 rebels and their allies harbor ambitions of advancing towards the territory's main town, located approximately 35 km from Kidasa, where the rebels and their camp are already situated.

While all sides continue to systematically violate the ceasefire, Kinshasa ostentatiously claims respect for the Doha process. According to intelligence on Frontline and inside FARDC operational command in south Kivu, the armed forces, the FARDC, are continually withdrawing, which is causing concern among local civil society. Civilians are asking: "How far will these retreats go?"

Our intelligence sources close to Burundians contingents in UVIRA complain of the unseriousness, unpatriotic, undisciplined and money minded nature of the Congolese elements on the Frontline that has impinged on most of the strategic battle plans. In Shabunda the Wazalendo  are bitterly accused of installing barricades that lead to extortion, where the interim chief of the Baliga group was reportedly humiliated by Wazalendo elements based in Mulungu, the group's main town. According to local sources, the traditional chief allegedly attempted to oppose the installation of a 5,000 FC barrier on the Nyakigongo River in Kitandi/Mulungu.

FARDC soldiers have been fleeing the battlefield at Mwenga-Kamituga. They are heading towards the Baliga area, in the Shabunda territory, and are going from village to village and mining site to demand money from residents and traders. Two groups were seen on on friday in Kamulila; the population there collected 1,000,000 Congolese francs, and then these soldiers headed towards Chelamzi.

The Baliga area has several mining sites located near the Ulindi River. The local population is panicked and no longer knows how to reach Kamituga. In these mining sites, many traders from Bukavu and Goma are stranded, unable to leave Baliga to reach Kamituga and continue their journey to Bukavu. It is also difficult for them to pass through Kigulube, Evari, or Nzibira to reach Bukavu.

Only one route remains viable: traveling down the Ulindi River to Shabunda-centre, a four-day journey. Once in Shabunda, it's possible to fly to Beni or Kalemie. From Beni, one can reach Goma, then take a boat to Bukavu.

Previously, the trip from Baliga to Bukavu cost around 200,000 Congolese francs (FC). Today, it costs between 600 and 1,000 USD. In the Baliga area, there are no money transfer or withdrawal services, which exacerbates the suffering of the population. The Wazalendo people refuse to accept this situation.

I know the geography of eastern DRC very well. I regularly receive calls and messages from traders from Bukavu and Goma who describe the situation to me, I know this region intimately, having relatives all over North and South Kivu and even Manyema.
