As we wrote earlier on Monday, our team on a mission in Tshopo, ituri, lubero and greater Equateur have already reported that Four people were brutally killed and six motorcycles burned in an ambush by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels on the Oïcha-Mamove road in the Beni territory of North Kivu province, in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The attack occurred on the morning of Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Following the initial attack, Intelligence also confirmed that the enemy also launched a second ambush near the village of Pwenti, further fueling security concerns on this heavily trafficked road.
“We deplore this latest deadly attack attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels. We urge the population, the majority of whom are farmers, to exercise increased vigilance during this period when the security situation in the region is untenable,” stated Kinos Katuo, president of the civil society organization in the region.
Faced with repeated attacks by the ADF rebels, civil society is calling on the relevant authorities to urgently strengthen security measures to protect the public and the farming community.
This new attack by the ADF rebels comes after the one on Sunday, February 1st, which resulted in deaths and the burning of approximately eighty (80) homes and businesses.
Our intelligence also reveals that Several villages along the Butembo-Manuredjipa axis, in Lubero territory, have been emptied of their inhabitants following killings attributed to the ADF rebels.HUMINT sources say that in November, an attack on the Byambwe hospital left 18 people dead.
In January 2026, another incursion claimed six lives in the area. As a direct consequence of this persistent insecurity, schools have closed and medical staff have already left Byambwe, a town located 65 km from Butembo.
The inhabitants of Bambee are calling upon UPDF and FARDC to deploy heavily in this area.
