Our sources on ground reported of a meeting in Beni on Tuesday, February 3, 2026,where civil society representatives in North Kivu raised the alarm about the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation and called for an evaluation of the joint FARDC-UPDF operations, nearly five years after their launch.
Civil society denounced the ongoing kidnappings, assassinations, forced recruitment, and destruction attributed in particular to the M23/AFC and the ADF. They reported more than 67 civilians killed since the beginning of 2026 in the territories of Lubero and Beni.
Among their recommendations: strengthening the capacities of the security forces, mobilizing humanitarian aid, and increasing the involvement of international partners. A session to strengthen community engagement for peace was held from February 4 to 5 in Beni with the support of MONUSCO.
NB!I tell commanders of this operation Shujaa to take note of this...
