A coalition of More than 65 indigenous armed groups to participate in a dialogue to bring peace in South kivu

 


A Coalition of the Forces of Patriots for the Defense of Congo (FPDC), which brings together more than 65 indigenous armed groups operating in eastern DRC, says it is ready to participate in the "cohesive leader retreat" dialogue planned in Murhesa in the South Kivu from September 14 to 16, 2020 to restore lasting peace in the east of the country.

In an address to the press last Thursday, Samy B'aasane Mwenemwenyi, president of this coalition, invites the regular army to cease fire to facilitate the movement of representatives of armed groups to the place of dialogue.

"On behalf of the coalition, we ask the FARDC to observe a ceasefire so that we have free movement from our bases to the place where we are called. We want to show the entire Congolese community and international that we want peace. We also want to evaluate the agreements of the dialogue of last December ", he declared.

He informs that only the Congolese government has not respected its commitments signed at the end of the retreat of December 2019. The president of this coalition cites in particular the non-release until this day of all elements of armed groups detained in prisons.

The Trade Facilitation Project in the Great Lakes Region (PFCGL) launched on Wednesday September 09, 2020, training courses for the Associations of Cross-Border Traders (ACT) and Small Cross-Border Traders (PCT) with a view to their professionalization in the opting to increase their income,Bunagana inclusive in this program.

 


According to Jean Philippe Mukuaki, specialist in the private sector and promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises who presented this project to the press, it is the ACT and PCT of the border posts of Goma, Kasindi, Bunagana (North Kivu) and Bukavu ( South Kivu) which are targeted by these training courses which will last for 4 months.

"We expect professionalization and legalization from these ACTs and PCTs with the implementation of tools that will allow them to work on good practical bases with the impact of improving their income", declared Jean Philippe, also consultant at the FORHOM office.

Training sessions for trainers are planned with a view to providing them with the tools, particularly in terms of the capacity to develop partnerships and strengthen communication plans.

As a reminder, during this year 2020, as part of the improvement of the working conditions of Small Cross-border Traders, the PFCGL has also provided them with tricycle motorcycles, installed giant screens at the various border posts to raise awareness on the rights and duties of migrants as well as the fight against the coronavirus. Thermal cameras have also been installed for disease surveillance and the construction of modern toilets at the small DRC-Rwanda barrier in Goma.

Head of State Tshesekedi orders all miltary services to go to Ituri after ADF killing many people

Three civilians were killed by ADF along Mbau-kamango road.

 


Three civilians died in an ambush set by the ADF (Allied Democratic Forces) rebels, on the Mbau-Kamango road, in Beni territory in North Kivu on Wednesday, September 09, 2020. According to Rosette Kavula, deputy administrator of the territory in charge of finance which delivers the information declares that, these killed civilians were all on a motorcycle. “There are three people who died at kilometer points 36 and 38 Mbau-Kamango road. The rebels shot at them and died on the spot, ”she said. According to the same source, FARDC elements arrived at the scene of the tragedy while the attackers had already vanished. Note also that this attack comes a few days after another on the same road last week where several civilians were massacred.

MONUSCO peacekeepers at Panzi hospital to ensure the safety of Dr Denis Mukwege



MONUSCO peacekeepers were again deployed to the Panzi hospital located in the city of Bukavu in South Kivu, on Wednesday September 09, 2020.
